Floor board laying on wood sheeting

Laying floor boards on a wooden substrate is the most commonly used.

To obtain the best results one has to adhere to not only to the preparation of the laying surface but also the room moisture level and the use of correct tools.  The instructions below should be strictly followed:

  1. The room temperature should not be less than 15° C and relative humidity  45±5%.
  2. The laying surface must be clean, dry , stable (firmly fixed ) and even otherwise the laid floor boards will take up the uneven contours of the substrate.
  3. Before laying the floor, the substrate should be made even and if necessary primed to give good adhesion properties.
  4. The floor laying should be carried out soon after the delivery of the floor boards.
  5. When applying floor boards to the substrate use approximately  1 kg/m2 and distance between nails of 200mm.
  6. A gap of 10 mm should be left between the board and the wall in the longitudinal direction to compensate for any expansion due to changes in moisture levels. The gap is covered by the skirting board.
  7. Surface coating should only be applied when the adhesive is completely dried
  8. Surface coating should be done according to the manufacturers instructions.
